This is a compilation, put to music. The video shows the sick devastation in that region that has seen 2 wars in a few decades and intermittent terrorist activity. Have no idea what the narrator is saying, what the music is or which side even shot this video… the language used in the video, may in fact be universal and really no need to speak the language to get the general idea of people die, mothers cry and maybe some politicians(or holy men) somewhere, hundreds of miles away, win some prize.

This war video is called “Mujahideen Operations in Chechen Province”

Chechnya recently has made news with rebel terrorist activities. Even though Chechnya is bordered by Russia, Russians are a minority and most of the population in Muslim.

From Wikipedia..
Human Rights Watch reports that pro-Moscow Chechen forces under the effective command of President Ramzan Kadyrov, as well as federal police personnel used torture to get information about separatist forces. “If you are detained in Chechnya, you face a real and immediate risk of torture . And there is little chance that your torturer will be held accountable,” said Holly Cartner, Director Europe and Central Asia division of HRW.

Human rights groups criticized the conduct of the 2005 parliamentary elections as unfairly influenced by the central Russian government and military.

The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre reports that after hundreds of thousands of people fled their homes after inter-ethnic and separatist conflicts in Chechnya in 1994 and 1999, more than 150,000 people still remain displaced in Russia more than a decade after the beginning of armed conflict.

map war torn somaliaThis is a video made in 2007 that focuses on the conflict in Somalia. Murder, Rape, Kidnapping, Robbery, all standard daily routines in a war torn country. Somalia, like many other Islamic nations has religious groups that oppose each other on issues such as moral laws. Over these issues of law and morality, the very moral and holy leaders continue to send out the warlords to rape, rob and pillage their way into Gods good graces.

from Wikipedia.. the fight for social morals and football. Sadly, the bloodshed continues not over great issues or humanitarian causes, but, trivial BS such as watching TV and football games.

Conflict broke out again in early 2006 between an alliance of Mogadishu warlords known as the Alliance for the Restoration of Peace and Counter-Terrorism (or “ARPCT”) and a militia loyal to the Islamic Courts Union (or “I.C.U.”), seeking to institute Sharia law in Somalia. Social law changes, such as the forbidding of chewing khat, and even the prohibition against watching movies and football in public, were part of moves by the ICU to change behaviors and impose strict social morals.

This is a video made by some high schoolers using animated clay characters. Both sides want the tree in the middle. In the end, well, the tree is still there and still belongs to no single person.

Sadly, even high school kids have more sense than some older and wiser(Not) politicians and religious(Not) leaders, realizing that its not really possible to “own” something that will absolutely outlast you. But hey, the clay soldiers do put up a great fight.

Not much of a surprise in a country that does not seem to make it even a few years without battles of some sort and has seen two wars since the 1980’s. It seems politicians in the middle East have a hard time getting along, with their neighbors and each other. Maybe one day, they will all grow up and learn to play nice and share.
from BBC..
Thursday’s gun battles broke out only minutes after the Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, appeared on TV to accuse the Lebanese government of declaring war on his movement, whose raison d’etre is to resist Israel.
The government has so far refused to do that but the Sunni leader, Saad Hariri, said that Hezbollah’s reaction was based on a “big misunderstanding”, and he offered direct talks to resolve the situation.

He appealed to Hassan Nasrallah to take a historic stand to “save Lebanon from hell”.

Here are a few pictures of what Lebanon looked like before the second war destroyed it… well, again.
